The Land of the Mega Churches

Elevate Church just announced their plans to build a brand new 10-story cathedral addition to their current location in Frisco. Everything is truly “bigger in Texas” when it comes to churches like Lakewood Church in Houston (with Joel Olsteen) and even more so in North Texas with a range of “mega-churches” from Fellowship Church to Prestonwood Baptist to Potters House. But do we really need another large church?  While Prestonwood, Fellowship, and Potters House all have a heart for the community and outreach, are we really seeing that many new converts? or are current members just swapping one church for another when they are confronted with something they don’t like? I wonder what it would be like to be with a church through thick and thin for 50 years like my grandparents. What do they know that I don’t?
