I am of the opinion that inspiration should not be forced but rather should flow naturally. Sometimes you may have to give it a little nudge but it is usually pretty easy to tell when someone is forcing inspiration. That is why composers, painters, and artists of all mediums would much rather make art for themselves versus having to make it to order for money; it is a natural progression to spew your thoughts, impressions, denials, etc. in the medium you have chosen.
Having said that…
I have never really made a conscious turn to my beliefs as inspiration for my art. It seems stupid to me know because I feel like it should be the other way around: my beliefs should be the only inspiration for my art.
For example, my pastor has been teaching on repentance for the last several Sundays and doing an amazing job, but I have never mentioned it in my blog. In fact, I can recall every really mentioning anything that I learn in my spiritual life on my blog to any real extent. I don’t think that this has been intentional which maybe be better or worse, but either way I am going to start correcting it.
