Lauren Fisher (from Simply Zesty) wrote a great article on the integration of SEO (search engine optimization) and social media. It is esspecially important as a filmmaker to be aware of your social presence for three reasons:
First, IT’S FREE! It only costs a small measure of time to get your social presence on the web. And despite the fact that this whole internet/social media thing has been around for years (I am beginning to think it is more than a passing fad!), most people don’t do the leg work to maintain their online social presence. Bingo! Leg up on the competition.
Second, It’s Branding. You as an individual filmmaker, apart from any project, can never have to much branding. The more your name is out there, the more of an expert you will appear to be; now you will still have to back it up with actual skill but at least you have gotten the opportunity.
Third, It’s Publicity. Just like you as a filmmaker can never have to much branding, your project can never have to much publicity. It is the quickest way to get eyeballs on screens.
