There is never a majestic mountain without a deep valley, and there is no birth without pain.

New Header Image

I don’t know why it took me so long to think about it but here is my updated header image! The Olympic Dailymirror.us!! header-olympic.jpg

Kinda ironic that it is based on a water theme and Michael Phelps won all those medals in the water…I’m not saying that I had anything to do with his winning all the races but…you’re welcome!!

Gallery2 and Plugins: BUSTED! (Part 2)

(Original post: Here)

After trying and trying to get a good workflow for the pictures I have had to make some compromises. My two priamry goals were to be able to have an easy backup of my images to my web-hosting and to have an easy way to use pictures in my posts/display albums on Dailymirror.us.

Well, it just wouldn’t work so I have settled on two separate solutions. I am using Gallery2 to backup the images to my hosting space; and then I am doing something a little weird for showing the photo albums on Dailymirror.us. I am using fotobook to take my pictures from Facebook because the majority of the casual pictures that I would want to show on Dailymirror.us are on Facebook. I am also setting up a pixelpost site which will handle all of the portfolio images…

So not what is ideal but it will get the job done! Hope this helps!

Model Search

Beck, Alix, Matt, and I stopped by NorthPark mall this afternoon for tax free weekend…we knew there would be a ton of people but to make it even more interesting there was a huge model search going on complete with runway and photographers. The sheer amount of makeup and silicon is mind blowing…not that there is usually a shortage of that at NorthPark…

Gallery2 and Plugins

I have spent the majority of the day trying to get a good workflow from iphoto to wordpress. I finally settled on iphoto -> Gallery2 -> Wordpress. It has been a couple of hours to get everything configured and set up but I am dangerously close.I am hoping not only to post more photos in a more effectient manner but also to use up some of that massive hosting that I pay for by backing up my images online.

Sitting in traffic

I am sitting here on the Dallas North Tollway stuck not just in traffic but in dead standstill traffic. Course alot of places have this problem all the time but it is far from a regular occurance in DFW. Not really sure about the purpose of this post other than the fact that I am sitting here and have nothing else to do… It is wierd sometimes how God causes me to slow down. Usually it is in ways that I neither expect nor fully understand; however on this specific instance I am thankful. These last two weeks have been such a blur that I hate to see them over and yet I am not overly sad to see them finished. My best guess is that I have so enjoyed growing and bonding with the people that these last two weeks have demanded that I am sad to see them go. Yet the same reason that has brought me together with them has also taken so much from me physically, spiritually, and most importantly it has taken so much of the time I should spend with Becky. I have learned so much from Marcelle and Dawn not only about working with kids but esspecially in being a good leader…. Oh it looks like the traffic is moving.

Creative Arts Camp

I have been so enjoying this week!! It almost makes up for the last two weeks and I am only on the second day…For the most part, I have been able to hang and “play” with the drama team. Thanks to Kelly taking the majority of the office work, I have been able to be with Marcelle and the Drama Team who are AMAZING!!! It has been a bit of a streching experience to because I am so used to being behind the camera and not actually acting. But this week has given me the opportunity to do some improv and really develop a thirst to do more! Granted, it is me doing it so to say that it is rudimentary would be an understatement; however, I have loved getting up and welcoming the kids in the morning and wearing crazy clothes, etc. And this work with these people who are awesome at acting and improv has really encouraged me to take some chances and do some wacky stuff, and really “leave myself at the door” as Marcelle would say…
