Isn’t it ironic…

It is more than a little ironic that the last post was about traveling…I just found out yesterday morning that I am going to be headed to Romania at the end of the week for a Big Freeze Shoot. I am really excited about it because I have never been to Romania and I love to see new countries and cultures. Plus it is always a good time when the Big Freeze effect is involved.

Traveling on down the road…

There is something about traveling that seems to get me into the blogging mood; not sure why…maybe I have time to think and write. Which by the way is the reason I want to retire to the Lake District in Scotland some day. But right now I am in the car with my cousin Matthew and we are driving from DFW to Memphis to pick up Staci and Emili (my sisters) and then drive to Ole’ Miss (Oxford, Mississippi) to stay with my cousin David (Matthew’s brother). It is going to be a great weekend of college football and family. I can’t wait!

rss friends

Depending on who you talk to, most of my friends would tell you that apart from the occasional phone call, I am horrible at keeping in touch. It’s actually really frustrating for me because I like to know what is going on in the lives of people that I love…well, I have found something that makes that a little easier. You have probably heard of RSS and even if you haven’t (it is basically just a summary of updates from a web page) it can be really useful for keep in touch with good friends. The only thing you need is for you to have an RSS aggregator (I have no idea why it is called that) and for your friend to have a blog or website of some sort that has a RSS feed. For example, when you use Firefox to look at my blog, there is a little orange button in the far right side of the address bar. When you click on it, it will give you the option to save the RSS feed to your toolbar. This is also nice for easy access but it tends to clutter up the toolbar if you have more than a couple of RSS feeds. So, I just cut and past the RSS feed (You can find it by adding the feed to your toolbar in Firefox and then right clicking on the feed in your toolbar and select properties) to an aggregator. I use Vienna but you can find all different kinds (check out this article) Then I am able to go to one place to see all the updates from the people I love to read about!

Time is Flying & Becky is Hobbling

I hadn’t realized how fast time was going by till I looked on the site and realized the last time I really wrote on here was nearly a month ago. I have been working on several projects at work but the one that has taken up most of my time is starting a new indie film division of bigfish. You can see the splash page here and the completed website is coming soon. This has been a welcome change from what I have been doing simply because it is a fresh challenge and I have always enjoyed indie films and the artsy side of film. We have also has a bunch of work going on behind the scenes with The Big Freeze and some new productions in that arena. Anyway, it has been a great couple of last months. Becky twisted her ankle pretty bad and she did while walking my dog. (She was coming over to cook dinner for us one night last week) Then I get home from work and she is standing in the kitchen making dinner with the tiniest little tears running down her checks. She was so determined not to let a twisted ankle spoil her plans of cooking me dinner! So I had to carry her into the living room and finish it off myself (she had already done most of the work). I love that woman!!!

Emili, Queen of the WebCam

Going away to college sucks regardless of the little things that you can do to stay connected to family. BUT…having a web cam sure is a nice way to stay in touch. In fact, Emili, the rents, and even my gf are all people that I have communicated with over the web cam on a fairly regular basis. Here is a picture of Em as we celebrated the Gators winning..
