I recently saw these from the top of the Chase Building in Downtown Dallas…What’s funny about it is my eyes were closed….

People watching

I am admittedly one of those weirdoes’s that loves to people watch. Malls, public transportation, downtown, a big restaurant, an airport, a school campus: all of these are great places to be around and watch people. The walks and how they carry themselves; the facial expressions – especially the eyes, and wondering what is going on inside; the clothes, shows, and fashions; the accoutrements like a garbage bag or a briefcase; the way they interact with other people and the surroundings; each of these aspects fascinates me.

God’s creativity is overwhelming and His love is so diverse.

Airport

I went to the airport this morning to pick up my boss and realized I had forgotten how much I enjoyed being at an airport. Traditionally, my relationship with airports had been rather love/hate: when they are bringing someone I love like a family member or friend, I love them; but when they are taking someone close, that love quickly vanishes and leaves the opposite in it’s place (funny how that is sometimes true of our relationship with God).
It’s isn’t so much about the love and hate anymore…I love to go and watch the people. Smiles, tears, longing looks, laughter, people reading, yelling, scolding, kissing, indifference…there is a plethora of emotions and feelings that happen every hour at an airport. And the types of people are amazing! Black, red, white, yellow, infant, ancient, normal, weird, stereotypical, fashionable, desperately unfashionable: but the coolest thing of all is remembering who made each and everyone of them, not to mention his love for them.

thoughts from phillipians

I once thought all these things were so very important, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the priceless gain of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I may have Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own goodness or my ability to obey God’s law, but I trust Christ to save me. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.(Phil. 3:7-9)

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:6-7)

I read these verses this morning during my quite time and was struck with the huge amount of power and promise that is encompassed in just a few lines…There is nothing in life that these verse don’t set into correct perspective and priority. This is the way I want to live my life…

Primos 3

This is an addition to two previous entries that I wrote almost a year ago on a past blog. So that this new entry makes sense, I have included the first two here:

primos girl 1
I am actually pretty excited to write this entry which is not the norm unfortunately…Regardless here it is and this is dedicated to shane, chris, and ryan.

There is a local Dallas hotspot called “Primos” off of McKinney where we will occasionally go fordinner or as the mood strikes…now primos has good food, good drinks, etc. but it is more importantly a place that is frequented by my generation who are on the way up (or at least think they are); one could classify them as the beautiful people. On a recent visit with some good guy friends, we were discussing life and liberty and especially girls =) The topic of our future wives came up and how we are preparing now to be “her” man, how stuff will change, and also what we were looking for in a future mate.

The three of us are strong Christianguys (or are trying to be) and want the same in a future mate: namely, the first priority in a future mate is her relationship with the Lord. And as we are all in the creative industry, we would like a girl with a unique since of style. This style, and even personality became known as the “Primos Girl”. To be sure, the overwhelming majority of girls that we see at primos are not ones we would take home to mom. But none of us are looking for just one of the majority of girls…We want Her: the one hand picked for us by God. More soon…

primos girl 2
So what we wanted to know was if the Christian Primos Girl existed…who is the Christian primos girl? well, besides the unique style and personality (see first post) she knows how to appropriately walk the fashion line between modesty and sexy. (Hey! we’re guys and we are being honest) But here is the deal…the even more important part: She Must love God above all else. She must demand that of us. Everything else falls into place if He is number one in her life. All of us have made stupid decision at one point or another…but if we earnestly seek Christ, then through God’s grace, our past is our PAST and it is behind us; and now we try to follow hard afterHim. W/o soundingprideful, we are good looking guys and if we wanted to be dating someone, we could…BUT we want Her. And we are willing to wait for her…does that mean that the next girl we date will be the one we marry…not necessarily but it does mean two very important things: she will have a strong possibility of being her; and we will treat the girl we are dating with the respect that our future wife would want, regardless of whether or not it is the girl we are dating. (Put another way, we will treat the girl we are dating as if our future wife were right by our side until we know who she is)And until God sees fit to give us that special lady that is ours to cherish, we want to honor him with our relationships both friend and romantic.

primos girl 3
First off, it should be clear that none of us guys had in mind a certain girl when we were talking about all of this…instead it was the ideal of a girl…(note that Isaid an ideal of a girl, not an ideal girl) Lord knows we are not perfect nor would we really want to be dating (much less married) a woman who was perfect….

Here is the modification that I wanted to make to the first couple of posts…if possible, think of modesty as an action, and sexy as a state of mind or a confidence in Christ. One of the [if not the] sexiest things to a Christian guy, is a woman who is wholly in love with the Lord; that is what shows through whatever a woman is wearing…yes, we are living in the “age of the Image” and guys are evenmore stimulated by their eyes, so in some ways the actual clothing/style matters, but only in a way that accentuates on the outside what is already on the inside. There are certain outfits that I just shouldn’t wear…doesn’t mean I am not handsome, but no guy can pull off every style and every outfit (unless you are in a movie :) It is the same with the Ladies: some woman look great in certain styles and other outfits don’t compliment the way that God made them. Itdoesn’t mean that they are any more or less beautiful than the woman who wear the opposite styles.

Now I am not completely naive…I realize that a woman walking down the street wearing a t-back and string top is going to get more looks from Joe Blow than a woman who is wearing an abaaya (a black gown)…but who would you (as a Lady) rather get looks from…the guy who lustfully drinks in the woman wearing practically nothing, or the guy who immediatelylooks away because he knows that that is not what he wants in a future mate nor is it something his future mate would want him looking at….

This topic is continually evolving….

Money Money Money

So I spent the majority of this evening updating and working on my budget with the West Wing Season 4 playing in the background. Cleaning around the apt also consumed some of my time this evening; I have a special guest visiting next weekend…
I also did some behind the scenes stuff on my blog and updated some old entries…

I was trying to think of something interesting to say because I really wanted to post today, but could come up with nothing…so I will just post this picture I took in LA this last weekend…
