internal dialogue ~ Take 2

I: Well, only a fool see himself in a mirror and then turns away and forgets what he looks like.
Me: I think the changes need to start with prayer. Real, earnest, prayer. I want to learn about the power of prayer because I must start off asking for discipline. I need to ask for strength for obedience; strength to obey. I must start training and putting Christ above all else in a way that is not only internal, but in a way so that are able to see he is number one in my life; not for the sake of others seeing it in me, but rather in the way that a tree bears the fruit when it is alive inside.

internal dialogue ~ Take 1

Me: So I have been thinking alot lately about direction.
I: Uh-oh.
Me: Yeah I know; but I think that life is to short to not have a clear idea of where you are going. I mean how much time do waste each day doing crap that really has no consequence in the eternal scheme of things??
I: True, but what is of consequence? what do you do that does have some kind of eternal value?
Me: Well, I use to think that I wanted to get into film to be a director. Now I am trying to narrow that down to say that I want to create the image.
I: So what is the difference?
Me: hehe, I don’t know but I think it is a little bit more specific. Plus it could include photography.
I: OK, leaving that for a minute, what other areas do you need to examine to see if you are doing what is of eternal value?
Me: well here are some things that I have been thinking about…The amount of time I spend watching TV, the actions and habits I have and how they affect the witness I want to have, a lack of Christ’s love to those around me, especially at work…
I: so what are you going to do about it?
Me: I am not sure…

rebukes

there is a true test to a friendship…a first level of refining that shows the prence or lack of true friednship…this is the process of rebuke. It is as important to be open to rebukes as it is to be loving when you rebuke someone else. I had a friend come to me today and rebuke me about my actions and at times inactions on a shoot. I was in no mood to be rebuked today, esspecially by someone who I technically worked above…but for some reason, God gave me strength to hear him out and while I am not overly excited about accepting the fact that I did something wrong a shoot that I worked very hard on, he had some vaild points. the point is, he is in a much better position to see sides of me that I can’t; am i in a position to accept what he sees?

curves

eveything is on curves…life is one big series of curves, ups and downs…as a cristian, there is a constant in that series of curves, the only constant in the curves of life…christ.

I had a conversation with some buddies this afternoon, one of those conversations that you almost wish you had tape recorded because there was so much truth spoken that you can hardly get it all in one sitting. i amhoping that by writting some of it down I will be able to remember it longer…or at least more of it. I am not exactly sure how the conversation started but the point is we were talking about where the happy medium is between waiting for God to lead and being so proactive that you run right past his plan.
My buddy gave me a great analogy: It is as if you are in a car: you can either stay parked and just say you are waiting for Him to tell you where to go…one of the biggets fears is that we can’t see 10 feet in front of the car and therefore we are afraid taht if we go to fast or don’t know exactly what is in front of us we will run right off the edge of a cliff and fall to our death. The problem comes when we get to heaven and the only thing we have to show for it is a parked car. The other side of the argument is based on the fact that you will out run God so-to-speak or that you will be so proactive and that you will miss what God has for you. The key is to not grab the sterring wheel. I mean, if we really have faith, and God is in control, then we can’t out run Him. The trouble we get into is when we try to go fast and steer. When we go our own way is then we get into trouble.
